Mentee FAQ

Uptia Logic Mentoring is a free service designed to support Uganda-based businesses—or business ideas—at any stage. Through one-on-one or small group sessions, our experienced mentors provide expert advice, practical guidance, and education on key business topics to help you succeed.
Getting started is simple. Complete our mentoring request form and enter your district, city, or town to be matched with a local expert. If you're seeking help in a specific area, let us know—this helps us pair you with a mentor who has the right industry or subject matter expertise.

Once you've submitted your request, a mentor will reach out by email to schedule your first session. We offer flexible communication options, including phone, video, email, and in-person meetings.

During your session, you'll discuss your business goals, challenges, and current strategies. Your mentor will listen, ask questions, and provide personalized advice. They'll also connect you to helpful local and national resources and recommend relevant workshops or events.

Need a different perspective? If your needs change or you feel your mentor isn't the right fit, you can request a new one anytime from our extensive network.

Uptia Logic offers both one-time support and ongoing guidance—for as long as you need it. Whether you're just starting out, managing daily operations, growing your business, or planning an exit, our mentors are here to help at every stage.
We use the information you provide in your request form to find the best possible match. We consider your business questions, goals, and industry when reviewing our mentor database.

For general guidance, we'll connect you with a local expert who can help clarify your needs and guide you forward. If your situation requires deeper expertise, your mentor can bring in other specialists from the Uptia Logic team.
You'll typically hear from a mentor within 72 hours of submitting your request. From there, you can schedule your first session at a mutually convenient time.
Yes! Your mentor will reach out up to three times via email, phone, or text (if you opted in). Please check your spam or junk folders and whitelist emails from mentor@uptialogic.com to ensure you don't miss their message.
Uptia Logic mentors support businesses in every industry, including:
  • Professional services
  • Retail
  • Arts, entertainment, and recreation
  • Food services and hospitality
  • Travel and tourism
  • Marketing and advertising
  • Healthcare and social assistance
  • Real estate
  • And many more
In addition to industry-specific advice, our mentors can also help with core business topics such as sales, marketing, finance, accounting, operations, and technology.
Mentoring sessions are private, personalized conversations designed to address your specific business questions or challenges.

Each session lasts 30–60 minutes and can take place online, by phone, by email, or in person—depending on your preference and mentor availability.

You'll discuss your goals, challenges, and progress. Your mentor will offer expert advice and practical resources to help you move forward. If needed, they may refer you to other experts or recommend follow-up sessions and helpful tools from Uptialogic.com or our partner organizations.
To get the most value from your sessions:
  • Come prepared with a clear business idea or a specific question/challenge.
  • If you're unsure what kind of business to start, consider using our Small Business Consulting Services first.
  • Be ready to actively engage—ask questions, take notes, and think critically about suggestions.
  • If your business is already running, share key information like your business plan, financials, and goals.
  • Be honest and open—your mentor is here to help, not judge.
  • Expect ongoing support. Many challenges take more than one session to solve.
  • Stay proactive. Your mentor won't do the work for you, but they will guide and support your growth.
